Very little is known about the Colossal Squid because of its rarity - only a handful of specimens have ever been examined. One thing that is evident about this ocean behemoth is that it possesses the largest eyes in the animal kingdom. A 1,091 pound (495 kilograms) female discoverd close to Antarctica stunned researches with eyes that measured 10.6 inches (27 centimeters) in diameter.
